HLPOA Membership

The work of the Horseshoe Lake Property Owners’ Association (HLPOA) happens all year-round and for only $40 you can still become a member for 2020.

Why Join?

More than 70% of our eligible Horseshoe Lake Property Owners are members of the Association, which is a strong testament to everyone’s commitment to steward and ensure the riches we enjoy on the lake continue for years to come.

When you join the HLPOA, you:

  • are supporting efforts to keep our lake safe and healthy and can learn more about what you can do to maintain and improve the health of our lake over the longer term.
  • are invited to participate in any of the events currently hosted by the Association:
    • Our three flagship events happen in the summer and were adapted this year to ensure we adhered to the COVID-19 restrictions.  They included:
      • Virtual Kids Fishing Derby, Evening Boat Parade and Golf
  • will be supporting the advocacy beyond the lake on behalf of the property owners and contributing to a fund that is reserved to address overall lake issues as they arise.
  • will be kept informed about issues involving the lake and the greater community.
    • You and members of your family can join our email list called Keeping in Touch which provides relevant information to members on a timely basis. To join our Keeping in Touch email list, please send an email to horseshoelakeminden@gmail.com indicating your name, email address and 911 cottage property address.
    • We are moving towards electronic communication to provide more timely information, save money and make better use of our volunteer resources.  If you require a hardcopy of our annual newsletter and annual membership solicitation to be sent by mail, instead you may also request it.
    • You and members of your family can join our private Facebook group – Horseshoe Lake (HLPOA). To do so, send a request to the administrator with your 911 cottage property address and they will set you up.
  • can get involved and volunteer your time and talents to support the greater good on the Lake.
  • are eligible for benefits provided to our members through the Federation of Cottage Associations (FOCA).  FOCA is a not for profit that serves and represents lake associations, waterfront property owners (WPO) and waterfront communities in Ontario through education, communication and government advocacy. The HLPOA is a member of FOCA which gives our members the benefits of FOCA membership.
