Healthy Septic Systems

By now most of us have had our Septic Inspection, mandated by the Township of Minden Hills. Your inspecition would have provided an indication of what steps are required to address any anomalies in your septic system. We all need to bear in mind that whatever goes into our septic systems, will affect the water that flows underground into the lake.  Education and prudence is key.

To learn more, click here to view the presentation from our 2022 AGM that explains how Septic Systems work.  https://www.horseshoelake.ca/resources/Documents/HLPOA%202021%20AGM%20June%202022%20video%20Bill%20Muirhead%20septic%20system%20presentation.mp4.

Another great resource can be found on the FOCA website:  https://foca.on.ca/septic-systems/

What can you do to help?

Treat your Septic System with Respect. Share information with your family, guests and renters about best practices for a healthy Septic System.  Click here for a 1 page PDF that outlines the Do’s and Don’ts below: https://www.horseshoelake.ca/resources/Documents/HLPOA%202021%20AGM%20-%20Septic%20do's%20and%20don'ts.pdf

Don’t treat it as a ‘garbage bin’!

(HLPOA)

The HLPOA acknowledge the lands and waters on which we meet, are the traditional homelands of the First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples. Our beautiful lakes are fed from the north and flow to the south. We therefore acknowledge the Algonquin and Mississauga peoples as well as the governance of the Williams Treaties. We wish to express gratitude to Mother Earth, the resources we are using, and honour all Indigenous people who have been and continue to live on these lands.

Horseshoe Lake Property Owners association is committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion in which every member, their family and friends are treated with respect and dignity.
